Back to Programs>>Income Generating Projects
PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONAlthough material support is very crucial in any recovery process, it is not sustainable. at sedhec we train communities to be active gents of the positive change that they yearn for each day of their life. we train them in modern agricultural practices and provide them with seed supplies. the grandmothers together with their grand children have been trained in piggery and have been given two piglets each. we require each grandmother to give back 2 piglets after they have produced and this is passed onto the next grandmother. we plan to engage the youth since this is also another vulnerable group. many of them are uneducated and unemployed. if we do not do something, many will scumb hiv/aids |
CHALLENGESAlthough we have tried to engage the community into improving their incomes, the avenues available to us are still very few. many women and the youth especially those who cannot engage in agriculture have not been attended to. |
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONSWe plan to provide vocational skills to mainly able bodied women and the youth. once we have acquired the necessary tools, we will train them in tailoring and also do carpentry placement for boys. these will be provided with the necessary tools and attached to carpentry workshops for on-job training. |
