PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Although progress has been made globally in providing access to improved water, challenges in accessing safe water still remain in sub-sahara africa particularly in uganda. while 70% of the earth is water - less than 1% is drinkable and sadly, 9 million people die every year from lack of access to clean water. according to the world health organization (2012-07-16) access to water in the rural villages is at only 34% in uganda access to safe water remains a big challenge in most rural areas of uganda. in rural communities of mukono district residents fetch water from seasonal streams and dirty spring wells which are shared with animals. rural women and children in the community say they only access water during the rainy season. "during the dry season, streams dry up and the only way one can access water is by digging holes within the stream underground. even as one may dig a hole, he/she may have to wait for an hour or two for water to fill then they

CHALLENGES

The need to provide safe water in our rural communities is still huge. there is need to improve water ponds into well constructed spring well as well as constructing protective fences to deny animals from accessing the spring wells.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

We call upon all people of goodwill to donate generously either to repair or construct a new water source.
